Tholos tomb 2 at Gouvalari, Koukounara

The northernmost of the two Mycenaean tholos tombs found at the site of Gouvalari near Koukounara, is smaller with a diameter of 5 m. and contained bronze utensils and weapons, pieces of pottery with painted decoration, an amethyst seal stone with a bull representation, numerous stone arrowheads, as well as boar tusks that almost complete a helmet. The tomb was in use from the 17th/16th to the 13th century BC. The remains of a settlement from the early Mycenaean period were discovered at the Katarrachaki site, located a short distance west from the tholos tombs and the Arapis stream.
