Tholos tomb 2 at Fities, Koukounara

At a distance of about 20 m. east of the first tholos tomb at the site of Phyties near modern Koukounara, another tholos tomb with a diameter of 5.90 m. was excavated by Spyridon Marinatos and Georgios Korres, which seems to have been built in the 15th century BC. In the burial chamber, skeletal remains of at least five burials were found, some of which belonged to reburials carried out during the continuous use of the tomb until the 13th century BC. A female burial from the 15th century BC was found intact and was accompanied with various grave goods. Among other things, a gold bead with granulated decoration, a small gold-bound cylinder seal depicting a goat being hunted by a dog, a silver cosmetic spoon or ear pick and two knives with ivory handles stand out. Characteristic finds are exhibited in the Archaeological Museum of Pylos
