Agia Kyriaki in Pidima
The church of Agia Kyriaki is located 16 km northwest of Kalamata, to the south of Pidima. It belongs to the cross-vaulted type, and is quite small, its outer dimensions being 5.81 X 3.52m, which is not uncommon for this type of church. The initial construction phase dates to the 14th century. The wall paintings of the interior are of the same date, a feature that is unique in the Kalamata region. In the 1970’s a tile-covered canopy was added at its west side and a built templon (screen or iconostasis) in the interior.
