
Tholos tomb 2 at Chalkias

The second Mycenaean Tholos Tomb on the hill of Ailias near the modern village “Chalkias” is located at a distance of about 10 m. north of the tholos tomb 1. A few ceramic vessels, a Phi-type clay figurine and some flint arrowheads were found inside. Based on the finds, it is dated between the 15th and 13th century BC. The existence of the two tholos tombs is an indication that the region was extensively inhabited during the Mycenaean period.
